Cambridge Riverfest

Share:

The Grand River is an integral part of Cambridge, so it’s only natural that there’s an event dedicated to all things Grand. Now in its 33rd year, The Cambridge Riverfest is a fun celebration for the whole family to get out on the river. Held at Riverbluffs Park, the 2013 event will be one to remember. Riverfest is held over two nights with the Fish Fry Night on Friday, May 31 and Riverfest Family Day held on Saturday, June 1 from 10 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The annual Fish Fry is held at the Cambridge Newfoundland Club. Along with a delicious meal, the event features a live magician and a comedian. There’s also a band, so dance the night away to the sounds of Ties That Band. Tickets are $20 and are available at all City Of Cambridge facilities.

On Saturday’s Family Day, connect with the river through a combination of activities including raft and war canoe rides, a children’s play area, entertainment for all ages, local vendors and beer gardens. Entertainment includes: local magician Ray Xu, a bubble Machine, and a show by the doggie superstars The UltraMutts.

There are activities for kids and adults alike with a free supervised climbing wall. The kids will love the chance to build a birdhouse to take home. There are 150 available for the first kids who arrive at Riverfest. Learn more about local reptiles and amphibians at the Sciensational Sssnakess, an interactive show that lets participants interact with, touch and hold the animals.

Riverfest is a great chance to volunteer and get to know the Cambridge community. Positions include: raft rides assistants to load and unload the boats, information booth attendants, as well as beer tent and fish fry attendants. For more information on the variety of positions available, visit the Cambridge Riverfest Volunteer Page or fill out a Volunteer Application

Getting to Riverfest: From Cambridge, Riverbluffs Park is located on George Street across the street from Dickson Park. Take Highway 24 South to Parkhill - cross the river - and turn right on George Street. Only Riverfest traffic will be allowed to proceed at this point to park in Dickson Park.

For more information on the event, visit the Cambridge Riverfest website or the City of Cambridge’s News & Events Page.
