The Alta Vista Community in Ottawa is one community that, with the help of our residents and staff, we continue to improve, every day. Since Hazelview’s introduction to the Alta Vista Community last summer, staff have been working hard to ensure that this community is a friendly, welcoming and safe environment. Some of their efforts include holding regular events celebrating our residents such as summer carnivals and other seasonal events. Along with developing a sense of community pride and celebration, several upgrades to the property have been made including lobby renovations to give residents and their guests a great first impression of their home, new fitness equipment, an updated recreation centre, and new security technologies to ensure residents always feel safe and secure in their homes.
Shortly after Hazelview joined the community, the office began to receive letters of thanks and recognition from the residents for all their efforts and hard work. Some letters mentioned specific Alta Vista team members that had gone above and beyond, so the team began a ‘wall of fame’ where they framed and posted the letters to show how much they appreciate their staff and residents. Due to the amount of letters that were pouring through, the ‘wall of fame’ soon became a ‘hall of fame’ as there were too many letters from residents to keep them all on one wall.
After being a part of the Alta Vista Community for almost a year, we’ve had the opportunity to meet some great people, and learn more about our residents and the community. Thank you residents and staff of the Alta Vista Community – we couldn’t have made this community what it is today, without you.
