We're in the midst of another hot Montréal summer. As the world around us opens back up, it's time to refresh ourselves with a cooling (socially-distanced) dip. Here's where to swim in Montréal.
Jean-Dore Beach
A Montréal summer simply isn't complete without a visit to Jean-Dore Beach. It's only a 5-minute metro ride from downtown Montréal. It's also accessible by bicycle or car. It's a great place to cool off, swim and feel the warm sand under your feet. The swimming area is more than 15,000 square meters, so it's easy to spread out. At the time of this writing, there was no plan to open the change rooms, so be sure to wear your bathing suit under your clothes!
Aquatic Complex at Parc Jean-Drapeau
If pool swimming is more your style, you have another option while on St. Helen's Island. The Aquatic Complex at Parc Jean-Drapeau is one of the best aquatic complexes in the country. There's a recreational pool with a gradual slope for easy entry and exit. The bottom of the pool is padded with rubber for comfort and safety. There is also a diving pool and a competition pool.
Verdun Beach
Montréal's newest urban beach opened in 2019 and was an immediate success. Situated on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, Verdun Beach faces Île-des-Soeurs (Nuns' Island). The pool is easily accessible by all thanks to a flat, concrete path leading from the entrance to the swimming area. There are slides, a climbing wall, hammocks to hang out in, and a sandy beach. Pointe-Calumet Beach
Take a mini vacation with a trip to Pointe-Calumet Beach (701 38e Rue Pointe-Calumet). It's less than an hour from downtown Montréal. Enjoy the lifeguard-supervised swim area and sandy beach, the slides, water games, restaurants and more!
RécréoParc
RécréoParc (5340 Boulevard Marie-Victorin) is a wonderful resource in Sainte-Catherine. It's only 30 minutes from downtown Montréal. In addition to a family-friendly sandy beach, you'll find a playground, fishing and boating area, and even a campsite.
