Cottage clothing essentials | What to pack this summer

Partager:

Packing for the cottage can be a daunting process. You don’t want to overpack or underpack. Hazelview Properties has a few suggestions for which clothing items you absolutely want to bring with you this summer.

Chic and Practical Pair of Sandals

There’s nothing worse than forgetting to bring something when you’re on vacation -- especially shoes! It’s safe to say that when you’re at a cottage, you’re going to want a pair of casual sandals. You'll spend most of your time in them, after all. Having something a little more chic is a good idea, too -- especially if you’re thinking about going out for a nice dinner. Also, keep in mind that you probably won’t need more than two pairs -- unless you are staying for an extended period of time -- so don’t overpack!

Sunglasses

Make sure you don’t forget your sunglasses! Sure, you can probably pick up a cheap pair somewhere if you're desperate, but why spend money when you don’t have to? By planning ahead, you can avoid situations like this. Keep your favourite pair of sunglasses in your purse and pack a second pair in your luggage. This way, if you happen to lose or break one pair, you always have a backup.

Long Sleeve Shirt Or A Light Jacket

Don’t be fooled by warm summer nights in the city -- a cottage is usually much cooler at night, so having a long sleeve shirt or light jacket is essential. Plus, if you are on a lake, the temperatures can drop significantly in the evening and stay cool until the late morning. One long-sleeved shirt or jacket should be enough to get you through.

Slippers Or Outdoor Moccasins

No matter the season, a good pair of slippers or moccasins is always a good idea at the cottage. They’ll keep your feet warm in the chilly evenings, plus they can be stylish and very cozy.

Maxi Dress

Just because you are at the cottage doesn’t mean you don’t want to look cute. Packing a maxi dress or two is perfect for a few reasons. They are comfortable, versatile and look great! You can also dress them up or down, so they are perfect for any occasion! Check out Gap or Old Navy for some great maxi dress selections.

Happy cottaging from Hazelview! We hope these suggestions help you with your packing this summer!
