The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo is taking over Calgary’s Stampede Park from April 16th until the 19th. Today Hazelview Properties takes a look at what this entertainment expo includes, how to purchase tickets, and can’t-miss events.
About the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo
The Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo is a celebration of all things pop culture in the heart of Stampede Park, only a 15-minute walk from our 123 10th Avenue SW Community in Calgary. This year marks the tenth installment of the Expo, which is Canada’s 2nd largest pop culture convention featuring the very best in science-fiction, comic books, fantasy, horror, pop culture, animation and more. There is also a great lineup of special guests from film, television, comic books, horror, anime, cartoons and more. The full floor plan is available here, but is subject to change. The expo encompasses the entire BMO Centre, the Palomino Rooms, the Boyce Theatre, Stampede Corral and the Big Four Building. That’s over 450,000 square ft. of things to see and do.
Tickets
Calgary Expo tickets are available online and at a variety of participating retailers. Tickets are only available in advance and cannot be purchased at the door. A ticket pass gets you access to the main exhibit show floor, programming and most events. Other types of passes include the Deluxe Four Day Pass (allows early entry, exclusive event gear and a $20 access to all four event days), Four Day Pass and VIP Passes (Premium access, celebrity photo ops, swag bag filled with goodies, early entry and more). Expo Events
Celebrity Appearances:
Media guests are scheduled to appear over the course of the Expo. Enjoy live appearances, signings and talks by some of your favourite film and television actors, cosplay characters, animation voice actors, creators and more. Film and television actors you can expect to see include Stephen Amell, Kristin Bauer Van Straten, Brett Dalton, Tara Reid, Stan Lee and Robert Knepper.
Kids Costume Showcase
There is fun for the whole family at the Calgary Comic Expo. Don’t miss the Kids Costume Showcase on Sunday April 19th. This event is open to kids aged 12 and younger and is essentially a friendly costume contest among young cosplay lovers.
Calgary Expo Costume Contest
There is also an entertaining costume contest for adult attendees of the Calgary Comic Expo. Show off your savvy cosplay skills in this supercharged event, taking place in the Agrium Building on Stampede Grounds. The Costume Contest takes place on Saturday April 18th at 6 p.m.
