How to maximize your student apartment

Partager:

Another school year has begun! If you're a college or university student living in an apartment, you'll want to make the most of your space. Here's how to maximize your student apartment.

Get organized

The enemy of a small space is clutter, so the more you declutter and keep things tidy and organized, the better. We love clever space-saving organization tools like hanging shoe racks that let you store your shoes off the ground, rolling clothes racks for when you're tight on closet space (that can be rolled out of the way when need be), rolling drawers that can live under a desk or double as a bedside table (and be rolled out of the way), and rolling hampers that keep dirty clothes from creeping all over the place.

Invest in multi-use furniture

When you live in a small space, you don't have much room for furniture. To make the most out of it, invest in multi-use furniture pieces like pull-out sofa beds, coffee tables with storage and bed frames with storage when it comes to decorating your space.

Make use of vertical space

If floor space is at a premium, think up! Make use of your vertical space with bookshelves and bookcases, floating shelves, a mason bed, and wall hooks.

Share what you can

Have roommates? Sharing is a great way to use space more efficiently and save money. Focus on sharing items used in common spaces like the living room, bathroom, kitchen and balcony. Share everything from a great and affordable couch and coffee table; to kitchen appliances like blenders and coffee makers; to hair dryers, shampoo and conditioner; to balcony furniture. Sharing doesn't necessarily mean joint ownership. You can work out who will contribute what so when you move out there isn't a custody battle.

We hope you'll give these tips a try to maximize your student apartment.
