The following crafts for kids are simple, fun and creative. They don’t require a big budget and can keep kids occupied for hours. Hazelview Properties offers family-friendly residences throughout Canada including our Ottawa apartments.
Kids Business Cards
This next project is incredibly easy, fun, and even a bit inspiring. Have your kids create their own business cards using blank business cards (or regular paper cut into the appropriate size), and some colourful pencils, markers, stickers, and stencils. Whether it’s a princess, pilot or astronaut, these cards allow kids to get creative and excited about their dreams. This project will keep kids busy for hours and requires very minimal supervision. Candy Necklace
Your kids will really love this next craft, as it features the one thing they can’t get enough of: candy. This is the easiest way to get your kids to join you in a crafting project, even if it is technically a bit of a bribe. Besides being a tasty project, it is also easy to make and very customizable. For a healthier twist, try including items like dried apple rings or multigrain cheerios. Bulk Barn is located less than an 8-minute drive away from our 222 Maclaren Street apartments, and has all the ingredients you will need for this tasty craft. For this necklace (or bracelet) you will need flavoured candy rings (such as peach or apple), circle cereal (i.e. Apple Jacks or Cheerios), and multi-colored candy string or licorice. Simply lie out your string, candy rings and cereal and have your kids customize their necklace. The full tutorial is available here, from ‘She Knows Living’.
Paper Plate Aquarium
Let your kids’ imagination run wild as they create a miniature underwater world out of a paper plate and colourful paper. For this craft you will need two light blue paper plates (or just plain ones painted light blue), coloured paper in your kid’s favourite colours, googley eyes, a handful of colourful beads, colourful markets, and glue. With an adult’s assistance, cut fish and plant shapes from the colourful paper and glue to the plate. Add the googley eyes to the fish, and glue the beads to the plate for some added sparkle and texture. Grab the colourful markers and decorate the fish with stripes, dots, or whatever else you can think of! The full tutorial is available from ‘Kix Cereal’ here. Dollar Giant is less than a five-minute drive away from our apartments at 2900 Carling Avenue, and has all of the craft supplies you will need for your beautiful paper plate aquarium.
