Partager:

You are never too old to learn something new and to experience exciting activities around you. In this article we will look at some options for fun (and mostly free) activities for seniors in the neighbourhood of Hazelview’s community at 222 Woodstock in Saint-Lambert.

Join the St-Lambert Council for Seniors
The St-Lambert Council for Seniors is a volunteer organization dedicated to helping St. Lambert seniors maintain active social lives through group events and activities. If you are a resident of the City of Saint-Lambert who is over 55, you can join the council for a yearly membership of only $30. There are weekly events, courses and outings put on by the council including computer classes, cribbage and bridge games, quilting and knitting courses, board game nights, dance classes, writing groups, language courses, fitness programs and more! For a full list of available activities please visit the St-Lambert Council for Seniors website here. The St-Lambert Council for Seniors’ headquarters is only a two-minute walk from Hazelview’s 222 Woodstock community in Montreal.

Visit the Library
Take advantage of the many services your local library branch has to offer. The Saint-Lambert Library offers many services to local residences including free lectures, classes, events, book clubs and of course their massive collection of over 107,000 novels, documentaries, digital books, DVDs, sheet music, periodicals and more. The library also provides its members with access to computers and the internet, free of charge. By getting a library card (which is free) you will immediately have access to cultural activities, events and a variety of workshops where you can learn a new skill or two and meet new people in your community. The Saint-Lambert Library is only a five-minute walk from Hazelview’s 222 Woodstock residences.

Take in the Local Arts & Culture
Montreal is a bustling city that is just brimming with history, culture and a fantastic arts scene. Why not spend some time visiting some of the sights and sounds of Montreal’s museums, art galleries and live music venues? The Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History is only a 12-minute drive from our 222 Woodstock community and showcases major local and global archaeological discoveries. Free guided tours are available with the price of admission ($15 for those 65 and older).

Saint-Lambert has introduced a free transit service for citizens aged 65 and up. This new initiative launched in April and will continue throughout the summer months. The program’s goal is to encourage seniors to remain active and participate in activities that take place throughout Montreal, while helping them avoid any budgetary concerns.
