Why play squash?
Squash is a high-energy and fun indoor racquet sport that is played by two or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. This fast-moving sport provides an excellent cardio workout and is available at most indoor fitness centres and gyms. Health benefits of playing squash include improving your cardio health, increasing strength and fitness, promotion of good coordination and flexibility and improving hand-eye coordination.
Getting Started
Before starting to play squash you’ll need a few pieces of equipment. These include a racquet, which can either be bought or rented from a squash/fitness centre, ball, activewear clothing and protective eyewear. The objective of the game is for players to take turns hitting the ball against the front wall, above the tin and below the out line. Each game is played to 11 points and the first player who scores 11 wins the game. For more detailed information about the game visit the World Squash website.
