While some may dread the long Canadian winter, many of us have learned to embrace the snowy season as the best time of year. If you’ve been waiting to get out and carve up some fresh powder, Hazelview Properties wants to help point you in the right direction. Here are some of the best places to snowboard and ski in Canada.
Nakiska Ski Resort, Kananaskis
Nakiska Ski Resort in Kananaskis is only an hour from Calgary, so it’s perfect for quick day trips. The resort features Olympic grade runs. In fact, it was built for the 1988 Calgary Olympic Games. Nakiska features some of the best snowboarding conditions anywhere, thanks to mother nature and some of the best snow-making equipment anywhere. A trip to Nakiska should be on the bucket list of every Calgary snowboarder.
Banff Norquay Resort
Banff Norquay is located close to the Trans-Canada highway, about 90 minutes from downtown Calgary -- so it’s very easy to get to. Prices can be a little high, but so are the peaks, and you get what you pay for. Watch for “Toonie Days” discount days. They are usually held once a month, on a Tuesday. You can carve the runs all day long for just $2 with all proceeds going to charity. Additional donations are accepted and benefit Bow Valley and Calgary area charities.
Blue Mountain Resort
Blue Mountain in Collingwood is the third most popular ski resort in the county, right behind Whistler Blackcomb and Mont Tremblant. There are 42 total runs, 16 chairlifts, and 3 freestyle terrains. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or a double black diamond demon, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Best of all, it's only 90 minutes or so from Toronto.
Mont Tremblant
Mont Tremblant is a world-class ski and snowboard resort about an hour north of Montréal in the Laurentians. The conditions and runs at Mont Tremblant are among the best in the province and the apres ski life at Tremblant is extraordinary. The Village looks and feels like something straight out of a fairy tale. Enjoy live shows, great night life, try your luck at the casino, and get some world class runs in! What more could you want?
Le Massif de Charlevoix
Even if you’re not fluent in French, you can probably deduce that Le Massif de Charlevoix (1350 Principale St, Petite-Riviere-Saint-Francois, Quebec) is massive. It's one of the tallest peaks in Quebec and boasts one of the most incredible views over the St. Lawrence. There are runs for beginners and intermediates, but this is truly an advanced skiers paradise.
These amazing runs may make you wish winter would last forever! We hope to see you out there this year!
