Summer is here and it's time to celebrate, Canada! To help you take a bite out of the season, we've found the top summer food festivals and events happening across the country in 2019. Don't miss out on these delicious festivities.
1. Toronto Food Truck Festival
From Friday, August 2nd to Monday, August 5th, head to Woodbine Park in Toronto for another scrumptious year of The Toronto Food Truck Festival! Admission is free and there’s something everyone will enjoy eating. Entertain yourself with some of Toronto’s best local talent, participate in fun eating challenges, take your kiddos to a magical Children’s Village and enjoy a cold beer with friends while you munch on amazing foods from the best food trucks around. 30 to 50 trucks will be serving the goods!
The Toronto Food Truck Festival is part of Canadian Food Truck Festivals. They also host the Burlington Food Truck Festival, the Pickering Food Truck Festival and the Brampton Food Truck Festival. All 4 festivals feature live music and up to 50 food trucks in beautiful green parks.
2. Halifax Seaport Cider and BeerFest
From Friday, August 9th through Saturday, August 10th, don't miss Halifax Seaport Cider and BeerFest. It's heralded as one of the top beer fests in the entire nation! This event is alcohol-focused, so entrance is restricted to visitors age 19 years and older. No pets or children are allowed. 2019 marks the 13th annual event. Attendees can wander through while they sample sips of over 300 craft beers, premium imports, seasonal drinks and ciders from around the world. The festival takes place inside beautiful Pier 23 Cunard Centre. To ensure you don't get too sloshed, there will also be amazing food trucks onsite and a 400’ waterfront patio to relax on. This is your chance to sample more award-winning and specialty beers and ciders than you can purchase. If you don't drink, but still want to attend, for $12 you can gain admission to the event and partake of several non-alcoholic drinks! Being the designated driver has never been sweeter.
3. Saskatoon Ex
The Saskatoon Ex is Saskatchewan’s biggest summer event. It features a ton of quality live entertainment, shopping, amusement rides and delicious food. You'll be one of hundreds of thousands of people to attend, play, eat, drink and shop. Browse the wares of countless vendors while you nibble on cotton candy or brave the Midway rides. However you spin it, you'll have a ball! The ex mainstage will feature performances from some amazing bands like Sum 41 and Simple Plan. Don’t miss out -- it’s on from noon to midnight daily from Tuesday, August 6th to Sunday, August 11th at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon.
4. Taste of Calgary
Taste of Calgary offers a true (and affordable) taste of the city's cuisine. Attend to sample the food of the city's restaurants, beverages, music and more. Calgary is home to many excellent purveyors of global cuisine. Whether you're up for an exotic light lunch or a filling dinner, this event is sure to crush your cravings daily, from 11 am to 10 pm, from Thursday, August 8th to Sunday, August 11th, 2019 in downtown Calgary at Eau Claire Market Plaza. If you're going to go, be sure to arm yourself with a ton of sampling tickets (available for just $1 each at the festival) -- use them to sample any of the food or beverage menu items on offer. Admission to the festival is free and includes access to performances from some of Calgary's best musical acts.
5. Gordon Food Service Show Winnipeg (GFS Winnipeg)
Are you in the food business? If your business is a mashup of food, people, and entertaining, you have to attend the Gordon Food Service Show in Winnipeg! For more than a century, Gordon Foods has partnered with restaurants, organizations like universities, healthcare facilities, hotels, stadiums and more to offer a collection of products and tools. This is your chance to browse and sample to your heart’s content! Register now, the event is set to take place at RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg on September 16th from 3 pm to 8 pm.
