Warm up this winter with a sauna!

Partager:

Warm up this winter with the help of Hazelview Properties’ on-site sauna and whirlpool at our 99/101 Place Charles-LeMoyne Apartments in Longueuil. Sauna usage offers a number of health and wellness benefits that help with soothing muscles, relieving tension, getting rid of toxins and relaxing the mind and body. Today we will discuss proper sauna etiquette and the benefits of taking a sauna.

Proper Sauna Etiquette

Close the door

When entering and exiting the sauna be sure to quickly close the door behind you. It only takes seconds for the heat to spill out of the sauna, getting rid of all its benefits in the process. Make sure to firmly shut the door so both you and any others in the sauna can enjoy the heat.

Sit on a towel

Saunas are hot but not hot enough to kill germs. In a high-use area like a public sauna be sure to sit on a towel while inside. Bring a towel into the sauna that is large enough to make a barrier between your body and the wooden benches.

Shower before using the sauna

Make sure to rinse off before using the sauna if you are coming from an earlier workout. For example, do not come directly out of the pool and into the sauna as the chlorine on your body will evaporate and disperse throughout the area. This can then irritate the eyes and lungs of people who are sharing the sauna with you.

Silence is golden

Many people use the sauna as a place for relaxation and introspection. Unless you know everyone else in the sauna, try to refrain from talking.

Sauna Benefits

Hazelview’s 99/101 Place Charles-LeMoyne Apartments offer the convenience of an on-site sauna and whirlpool. Sauna bathing has a number of health and wellness benefits that include:

Stress Relief

Stress reduction is commonly cited as one of the top benefits of sauna use. Bathing in a sauna provides stress relief in a number of different ways. It is a warm, quiet and distraction-free space. The heat from the sauna also relaxes the body’s muscles, improves circulation and stimulates the release of endorphins.

Soothes Muscles and Joints

Endorphins also have a mild and enjoyable ‘tranquilizing effect’ that has the ability to minimize the pain of arthritis and other muscle soreness. Body temperature also rises from the heat of the sauna, causing increased circulation which speeds up the body’s natural healing process via soothing aches and pains. The sauna also helps to reduce muscle tension and eliminate lactic acid buildup from sports or an intense workout.

Skin Cleansing

Deep sweating rinses bacteria out of the epidermal layer and sweat ducts of our skin. This in turn cleanses your pores and improve capillary circulation, giving the skin a more soft and supple appearance.

Improved Sleep

Research has shown that a deeper and more relaxed sleep can result from regular sauna usage. Body temperatures, which become elevated through sauna usage fall at bedtime. This slow, relaxing decline in temperature and endorphins is key in facilitating a better night’s sleep.

Enjoy the many benefits of sauna bathing from the comfort of your own home at Hazelview Properties’ 99/101 Place Charles-LeMoyne Apartments. This community is also within walking distance of public transit, schools, shopping, great restaurants, entertainment and more.
