Where to take Mom for Brunch

Partager:

Kick-off Mother’s Day 2013 with an awesome breakfast or brunch; there are plenty of great spots to take Mom around Burlington. Today, our post will highlight a few brunch joints that will surely impress. Just remember, no matter where you spend Mother’s Day, what matters most is sharing the day together.

Russell Williams Family Restaurant
Open since the 1950s, take Mom to share breakfast at this Burlington tradition. Russell Williams is a mom-and-pop diner that is perfect for brunching on breakfast classics. This restaurant serves all day breakfast featuring amazing pancakes, waffles and French toast. Our favourite is the Williams Eggs Benedict topped with back bacon and hollandaise sauce. Mom is guaranteed to love this spot! The restaurant is a four-minute drive from Hazelview’s Barkley Towers, and the trek takes about twenty minutes on Burlington Transit.

Spencer’s at the Waterfront
For a more formal option, consider the Champagne Sunday Brunch that kicks off at 9:30 at Spencer’s. The selection includes a hot marché station as well as a breakfast spread and cold display. Take your pick from poached eggs, roast beef, fresh pastas, seafood, cheese boards and breads. Spencer’s is also hosting a special Mother’s day brunch that features lobster, fresh-shucked oysters and live entertainment. Spencer’s is offering a brunch and an evening dinner buffet.  The cost is $59 per adult and $27 for kids under 12 years of age.

Brunch at Home
Of course, hosting brunch in your Burlington apartment is a great option and the effort is sure to impress Mom. The apartments at Barkley Towers have newer appliances along with cupboard and counter space that makes breakfast prep and service easy.

There are a few ways to approach a brunch spread. If your Mom likes a Tex-Mex flair, why not serve a batch of scrambled eggs topped with fresh cilantro? Mom can make her own breakfast wrap, choosing from toppings such as  shredded cheese, refried beans, fresh salsa and a simple guacamole. A side of greens really rounds out the brunch nicely. Prepare extra proteins such as turkey or peameal bacon in the oven for a healthier alternative to pan-frying the meat.

Check out and modify the following recipes:

For a more traditional treat, serve breakfast in bed with French toast, pancakes and sliced fruit. If Mom loves chocolate, add chocolate chips to pancakes. To really throw things for a loop, consider bacon strip pancakes – yes you read that right! Bacon can be added to pancakes in sprinkles or even full slices. This makes for a unique sweet and salty breakfast treat.
