About the Pan American/Parapan American Games

The Pan American Games are the world’s third largest international multi-sport games. Both the Pan American and Parapan American Games are held every four years for athletes of the 41 member nations to compete in a host of sporting events and activities. Toronto is home to the games this year, making it the largest multi-sport event ever held in Canada to date. The games will span over 5,300 kilometers in 15 host municipalities and showcase Ontario (and more specifically Toronto) to an international audience. Over 10,000 athletes, coaches and delegates will be competing in over 50 sports at 40 venues.

These games showcase performance, excitement, sportsmanship and competition that everyone can enjoy. Venues for the games include the newly built Pan Am Sports Centre, Etobicoke Olympium, Pan Am Fields, Canadian Tennis Centre, Ryerson Athletic Centre and more. The full competition and events schedule is available online.

Opening/Closing Ceremonies

The Opening Ceremony of the 2015 Pan American Games takes place on Friday, July 10th at 6:45 p.m. at the Rogers Centre. The Opening Ceremony will be produced and directed by Cirque du Soleil and the production will become the largest event produced by the company. The Closing Ceremony will take place on Sunday, July 26th again beginning at 6:45 p.m. at the Rogers Centre. The Rogers Centre is less than a 30-minute transit ride from Hazelview’s 200 Dufferin Street Community.
